The best part about living in Long Beach is supporting your local farmer’s market! Did you know that Long Beach has a farmers market on almost every day of the week? If you were to visit every market, you’d actually be getting a pretty good tour of the city, since they’re each located in separate, distinct niche areas. But besides seeing the city and buying organic, the special part about these markets is that you have the opportunity to meet the people who grew the food and ask them about the produce. These markets are vital to the health of our city, not only because they provide residents with healthy options, but because in a time when we are so dependent on social interaction through media, they foster face-to-face interaction and are mini metaphors for the diversity of our community.
We know there’s fresh produce, but there’s also freshly made tamales, kettle corn, humus, salsa, honey, cheese…are you hungry yet? Meet you there!
