The best part about living in Long Beach is escaping to Catalina Island!
Need a vacation but don’t have the time or the money to book air travel? Santa Catalina Island is the perfect escape, a mini vacation without the travel time or the cost! Just 22 miles across the sea, and a one-hour boat ride! If you don’t have a boat or a friend with a boat don’t worry the Catalina Express can take you there.
Escape to Catalina, camp under the stars at Bahia Azul, a secluded camp site with views of the Pacific and a semi-private beach! Or rent a VRBO! The island also offers plenty of hotel accommodations. Looking to spice things up… I hear The Pavilion Hotel or Vista Del Mar might be the perfect ticket!
Spend the day exploring the island, spot a wild buffalo, soar through the valley among the tree tops on a zip line tour, snorkel in crystal clear waters, or relax while observing the colorful fish and marine plants through a glass bottom boat! This beautiful island has so many wonderful adventured to offer!
Catalina also offers some of the most savory sweet treats that you must try the next time you visit! In no particular order of yumminess!!!
1.) Big Olaf’s Ice Cream – It’s the best homemade ice cream you will find!
2.) Catalina Coffee & Cookie Co. – The best homemade cookies and cinnamon rolls around and the only frozen yogurt fruit bar on the island!
3.) Original Jack’s Country Kitchen & Avalon Bake Shop – Fresh baked donuts, yes please!
4.) Lloyd’s of Avalon – World Famous Lloyd’s salt water taffy!
5.) The locals’ favorite cocktail – Buffalo Milk (you can order it just about anywhere on the island that serves alcohol)!
