With October coming to an end, now is the time to start planning and preparing for one of the most recognized nights of the month…Halloween! From trick-or-treating to attending costume parties to carving pumpkins or apple bobbing, to simply just watching a scary movie and telling scary stories, Halloween night is one to be filled with endless and fun activities. As it is only a couple days away now, we want to make sure that you and your home are fully prepared for the festivities to come. Taking care of your home is just as important as your Halloween plans, so we wanted to leave you with some easy reminders before the big night arrives.

Light the Sky
Halloween is known for being surrounded by mystery and darkness, but that doesn’t mean you have to be. If leaving the home, bring some light with you wherever you go, whether that means carrying a flashlight while trick-or-treating, wearing light colored clothing, or staying within well lit and familiar areas.

Outdoor Tactics
Prepare your home for the festivities by clearing porches, lawns and sidewalks. To make sure no accidents happen, turn on exterior lights to better light a path for others, but keep in mind that turning on the porch light is a sign that you are participating in the trick-or-treat festivities. If you forget, there is a chance of being awoken at the midnight hour by straggling bands of trick-or treaters!

Tricks and Treats
Halloween is the one night when kids can eat as much candy as they can possibly get their hands on. Here are some tips for the night to make sure that the trick-or-treat experience ends with a treat! Starting earlier rather than later may be helpful in allowing yourself to keep a more watchful eye on either your kids, the neighborhood, or for your own sake. Also, when it comes time to eating the candy, inspect every piece before consumption in order to make sure that none have been tampered with.

With all of this in mind, we hope you now feel as if you can avoid the scare of worrying about your home and your safety so you can enjoy the festivities that wait ahead!

Happy Halloween!
