The best part about living in Long Beach is hitting golf balls at one of our local golf courses!
Are you an avid golfer, perhaps a fanatic, or maybe you are like me and just like to tee-it-up once in a blue moon…? Well did you know that as a Long Beach resident you can purchase a Long Beach Resident Card for $25 which will allow you to take advantage of discounted golf rates and advanced online reservations? (The card can be used at any of the five courses below.)
With a number of recent renovations, Skylinks at Long Beach is a par 72 and plays 6,372 yards from the longest tees. Originally designed by Cal Olson, it features over 70 sand bunkers and several water features across its 18-holes. Nearby is El Dorado Park Golf Course which offers 6,474 yards from the longest tees and is also a par 72. Noted for its playability and sought out by many locals.
Adjacent to Cal State Long Beach is Recreation Park 18 (also known as ” Big Rec”). It’s noted for its history as being one of the oldest public golf courses in Southern California, offering rolling hills and 6,317 yards from the longest tees of a par of 72 .
The sister course to “Big Rec” is Recreation Park 9 (also known as “Little Rec”). One of two executive golf courses in Long Beach, it plays 2,100 yards from the longest tees for a par of 31. Perfect for a quick 9-holes or to just fine tune your short game. The other featured executive public golf course is Heartwell, offering 18-holes with 2,143 yards from the longest tees for a par 54. Another perfect course for beginners, fine tuning one’s game, or for a quick round after work in the summertime.
