The Raymond home was constructed in 1918 by New York born architect, Irving J. Gill. Though many of his projects were based in San Diego, The Raymond House is one of the few remaining architectural structures that Gill built in Long Beach that remains intact.
The home is consistent with all of Irving J. Gill’s work and style. Known for his modern designs with Mission Revival touches, the simplicity of the Raymond house is reflected, above all, through its exterior. Made simply out of concrete and surrounding stucco walls, the Cubist style modern outlook features a flat roof and hollow tile on the interior. When it was created, the home was used as a retirement residence for the Oklahoma banker Samuel Raymond and his family. Today, the home is still used for residential purposes and can be found on 2749 East Ocean Boulevard.
Located at 2749 E Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach.
