Architectural firm Fisher, Lake, and Traver, known for the infamous Roosevelt Hotel (Hollywood, 1927), designed The Willmore in 1924. This 11-story Italian Renaissance Revival building was originally owned and operated by the Stillwell Hotel Corporation of Los Angeles as a luxury apartment hotel. Initially named for its owner, the building was changed from Stillwell to Willmore to honor the man who launched the development of Long Beach.
As a registered historic landmark, much effort has gone into restoring and preserving this building’s original beauty. The building underwent a comprehensive rehabilitation and improvement program in 1991, which included seismic retrofitting and repainting. Today, it remains condominiums, many offering peek-a-boo views of the ocean.
Located at 315 W 3rd Street in Downtown Long Beach.
