Long Beach Pride Festival
This Saturday and Sunday (May 18th & May 19th), don’t miss out on one of the premiere Pride events of the nation. Attracting over 80,000 participants in two days, the 30th annual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride celebration will run along Shoreline Drive in downtown Long Beach from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. On Sunday, the kick off parade starts at 10:30 AM and run down Broadway from Lindero to Alamitos.
Tickets start at $20 at the gate, but early parade arrivers who show their pride at the parade hot spot could receive FREE ADMISSION to the 30th Annual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival, exclusive Long Beach Pride merchandise and more! Come to the parade hot spot kick off an hour early at 9:30 a.m. at Bixby Park, located on Ocean Blvd at Cherry Avenue. There will be plenty of shade and a community gathering spot for anyone watching the parade.

Attendees will flood Downtown Long Beach’s East Village Arts District in a sea of pink as guests are encouraged to dress the part. The event will be hosted by famed drag performer and 2013 Long Beach Pride Community Grand Marshal, Jewels Long Beach. The Pink Party will transform the outdoor venue into a pink extravaganza!
Dance to a spinning DJ playing high-energy dance music while famed Drag Diva Latrice Royale of RuPaul’s Drag Race 4 along with Detox, Delta Work, Raja, and Sonique entertains the crowd with a fabulous Drag Show you won’t want to miss. Two outdoor bars, hosted by Hamburger Mary’s and Bliss 525, will serve up beer, wine and cocktails, while Downtown restaurants serve up food and Pink Hair and Nail Stations decorate your fabulous looks.

Bike to Work Day 2013
It’s time to strap on that helmet, grab that bike and experience a whole new commute! Celebrate Bike to Work Day this year by joining your fellow neighbors and helping to keep Long Beach the most bike friendly city in the nation!

Gourmet Food Truck Night
This Saturday marks the 3rd Saturday of each month and the official gourmet food truck night! Enjoy live music and food trucks in Belmont Heights from 5 pm – 9 pm! Keep in mind that proceeds support Meals on Wheels of Long Beach’s meal delivery program to homebound seniors, veterans and the disabled in the Long Beach area, so come hungry!

Asthma Resource Fair
The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services is celebrating its third annual Asthma Resource Fair on Saturday, May 18, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Admiral Kidd Park in Long Beach. Everyone is invited to join in and help celebrate asthma awareness month! Learn valuable information on asthma prevention and control, take a free health screening by doctors, allergists and respiratory therapists, and get connected with vital resources and support. The family friendly event will also feature mobile clinics, drawings, door prizes and healthy snacks for everyone!
