It’s a great way to get fit, check out the businesses, explore the neighborhoods, and meet your neighbors.

(Friendly) dogs are welcome, too! LaunderPet will provide bags to dog owners.

The walks last for about an hour. Route changes each week.

30-Minute Beach Cleanup

At the cleanups, organizers provide free giveaways, trash bags, gloves, refreshments from Duthie Power Services, volunteer service verification forms, and free parking.Approximately 150 volunteers participate each month, and all ages and all sizes of groups are welcome.

No RSVP is needed. Dogs are welcome at Rosie’s Dog Beach at the cleanup.

Arrive any time after 9:35 a.m. and FREE parking when you enter the beach-front lot at 1 Granada Avenue.

Hosted by Justin Rudd!, his nonprofit 501c3 Community Action Team (CAT) and the Miss Long Beach and Miss Southern California Cities pageants.

The parade kicks off at 10:30 am at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and Anaheim Street. The celebration follows from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm, at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, located at 1950 Lemon Avenue, Long Beach, CA.

Join the City of Long Beach as it celebrates the revolutionary spirit of one of America’s most prominent advocates for racial justice and equality. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade and Celebration commemorates the courage, humility, and ultimate sacrifice of the historical civil rights activist. The parade honors Dr. King’s life and dedication to service by showcasing schools, organizations and community groups that strive to keep his timeless values alive.

There is also “Dreamland”, the children and teen area, which includes free carnival rides for the small children, a teen stage with dancing performances and contest, arts and crafts booths, and a nutritional snack stand that teaches kids about nutrition.

Free to enter, and there is no fundraising.Those that submerge completely (including the head) and who participated in the 10 a.m. 30-Minute Beach Cleanup that day will allow C.A.T. to add $5/person on their behalf to local charitable programs.RSVP to Justin@JustinRudd.com if you are bringing a group of 10 or more, so we can get you the info about the charity donation offer.

All ages are welcome. Those under 18 must have a parent/guardian present to participate. Dogs are welcome at Rosie’s Dog Beach, but we do not allow anyone to submerge a dog.

Wear what you want! It can be in a nice costume, your jeans and t-shirt, your mittens and 2-piece bikini; your Speedo and parka; your board shorts and flip flops. It’s your choice. This is not a swimming event.Footwear is fine to wear. No wet suits. Costumed encouraged. Bring your own towel. The water temp this time of year is approx. 55-59 degrees. Polar plunges and splashes happen this time of year all over the world.
