Event Description

Every first Friday night of the month, participating Bixby Knolls businesses unite to promote local artists and musicians through extended operating hours. In doing so we hope to encourage a dialogue between businesses, artists and the community. We want people to walk, talk, look, discover and experience the Knolls. Help transform Atlantic Avenue into Art-lantic Avenue. After the businesses close “after hours” fun begins. Nino’s Italian Restaurant, The Factory, BIS Italian-American Sports Café, and EJ Malloy’s stay open late for dining, drinks, and entertainment. Why go home early?

People are here for the love of Hot Rods-Kustoms, Live music, burlesque, art shows, 50’s fashion, and of course the tattoo show covering three floors inside the ship. 280 of the best tattoo artists in the world will be on hand from 30 States and 25 Countries representing all the tattoo styles; where a car show and music become an integral part of the event, mingling with the artistic expressions of the artists at work. Not only is the breathtaking view of the gigantic Queen Mary, the beautiful water, and the amazing Long Beach skyline quite a task to take in all at once, but all the fashion statements and lavishly adorned people are quite a spectacle as well.

Idea Fest Long Beach is a one-day festival of eclectic classes (that you can sign up for!), live music, food trucks, the Aquarium on Wheels and more! Idea Fest is a Leadership Long Beach project that will take place at 5 venues in the historic Zaferia District in Long Beach: Alex’s Bar, Artist Co-Op, Gladys Urban Farm, Joe Jost’s Building, and Orizaba Park Community Center. Classes range from the History of Punk Music in Long Beach to Personal Finance and everything in between. There will be live music and other performances throughout the day on the stage at Orizaba Park.
