A great variety of animals live in our beach communities. Birds include hawks, king fishers and burrowing owls. Rabbits live in the wetlands as do frogs. A group of endangered Pacific Green Sea Turtles has taken up residence in a portion of the San Gabriel River. Ecologists will lead a walk of the Los Cerritos Wetlands on Saturday, March 1st from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. This family-friendly nature hike will go through salt marshes to the San Gabriel River in search of a glimpse of the sea turtles. Recent rains have brought fresh growth, making this a perfect time of year to visit the wetlands.
The tour begins at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and 1st Street, just at the border of Long Beach and Seal Beach. The hike is appropriate for ages seven and up. Free admission, open to all. Learn more about the wetlands at www.lcwlandtrust.org.

Every Sunday at 3 pm in 2014, Hellada Art Center will host free 45-minute lectures open to anyone, to all ages, and to all levels of interest in art. The idea of such class was born as a collaborative effort of several local Long Beach artists to share fundamental information about art.
The lecture touches on early civilizations, ancient Hellas philosophies, and contemporary dilemmas of the creative mind. We will explore relationships between Art, Science, Knowledge and Philosophy.
